I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel in Berlin. The location was fantastic, being situated in a great neighborhood close to a station and within easy reach of various sights via public transport. The hotel itself was housed in an old building with modern apartments, which had good facilities and attention to detail. I particularly liked my room, as it had a large bathroom, a kitchenette, and windows opening to the inner yard. The breakfast spread was also impressive, with a wide variety of cold and hot dishes to choose from.
All was perfect!

The online booking went very smoothly and I got what I asked for/wanted. Everything worked well, daily morning papers were early and adequate (I read Der Tagesspiegel). Staff were knowledgeable and helpful; coffee was available at a late hour and the breakfast was excellent -- served by a friendly, competent woman. I also liked the ambiance. We have some Romanov loyalist types in Boston (though I'm not a great admirer of the old regime -- nor of the Communists either!), so I'm a bit familiar with the symbols and concerns of the pre-WWI era. I also read Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Pasternak et al. The old photos and other memorabilia brought back memories (of reading Nicholas and Alexandra, Dr Zhivago etc.) As a biochemist/bioinformatist I appreciate the gravity of Alexis' illness and could sense the stress in the faces of the family members as I viewed their portraits. I felt a bit closer to the unfortunate Romanovs -- and to the horrific turmoil that engulfed Europe in 1914. Naturally, seeing (and feeling) these things in the heart of Berlin (a short walk from the Reichstag, the Brandenburger Tor, etc.) heightened the sense of connection with history. I also found the nearby street names (Eichendorffstr, Novalisstr, Tieckstr, Schlegelstr. etc.) meaningful since I minored in German literature at Williams College and read pieces by all these romantic authors (and more). Bottom line: This is not your wannabe Holiday Inn with all the same features that get monotonously copied world-wide. Zarenhof has character. and style I would be happy to stay there again!
A bigger wastebasket and a place to recycle paper would have been nice. Otherwise no complaints!

Very helpful and firendly staff, good location, quiet but close to transport, breakfast choice very good.
The courtyard format seemed to trap heat, the room stayed uncomfortable warm all night, air-con would halp.

The accommodations were of good quality and the rooms were nice, clean, and spacious. The hotel was conveniently located near the central station and there were restaurants nearby. The neighborhood where the hotel was situated was also great, with many small bars, restaurants, and a market.
The breakfast tax was quite expensive at 12 euros. Additionally, the room we stayed in didn't match the pictures advertised.

Very close to the s-bahn station! Clean room and bathroom, kind staff, good breakfast with a lot of food to choose. Important: large shower box (shower curtain will not glue on your body).

Amazing value for money in the Triple Room here. It was a fantastic and spacious apartment...3 ROOMS..not just 3 beds..with full kitchen, tv in every room (not that we used them)...great great deal. Only drawback is no elevator and we were on 3rd floor.
No lift..but worth it when you get to the apartment! And we had a 2 year old.

The room was very clean and spacious, with lots of natural light. The staff were helpful and polite. The location was perfect, with easy access to public transportation and a supermarket just minutes away.
The sofa bed for the third guest was uncomfortable, and the sheets were left propped up after being changed which made it difficult to push down. , the breakfast did not have a gluten-free option, although the spacious kitchen area allowed for easy breakfast preparation.

Very spacious room; Near the city center; Generous brakfast; Hot water int the shower ;) Velmi prostorný pokoj; Blízko centra; Štědrá snídaně; Horká voda ve sprše ;)
Parking is 200 meters from hotel in other object (Booked.net in the czech translation states that it is "in the hotel"); Restaurant Ermitage (menu in the room and everywhere at the hotel creates the illusion that it must be near the hotel) is 2.5km from the hotel; impossible to catch Wi-Fi in the upper floor; Unpleasant staff at breakfast Parkoviště je cca 200 metrů od hotelu v jiném objektu (Booked.net v českém překladu uvádí parkování "v areálu hotelu"); Restaurace Ermitage (jídelní lístek na pokoji a všude po hotelu vytváří zdání, že musí být u hotelu) je 2.5km od hotelu; Wi-Fi nelze chytit v horním patře hotelu; Nepříjemný personál u snídaně
